MTN Rwanda Partners with KVCS for Cashless Payment of Parking Fees

MTN Rwanda has partnered with Kigali Veterans Cooperatives Society (KVCS) to introduce a payment option for parking fees via the MTN Mobile Money platform. Motorists in Kigali will no longer have to rummage through their bags or pockets for coins in order to make payments for tickets or for outstanding fees. All they have to do is dial *799# on their mobile phones to make instant payments.

MTN acknowledges receipt of fine notification from Rwanda Utilities Regulatory Authorit

Johannesburg – MTN Rwanda has received official notification of a fine equivalent to US$ 8,5 million from the Rwanda Utilities Regulatory Authority (RURA). The fine relates to non-compliance with the Directives issued by the regulator prohibiting the inclusion of MTN Rwanda in the MTN South and East Africa (SEA) IT hub based in Uganda

ITC’s SheTrades initiative launched in Rwanda

(Kigali) – The Rwanda edition of the International Trade Centre’s SheTrades initiative was today launched in Kigali by First Lady Mrs Jeannette Kagame. During the launch mobile-phone provider MTN Rwanda also announced it would be offering women entrepreneurs free downloads and free browsing of the ITC SheTrades mobile application. Launched in September 2015, the SheTrades Initiative will connect 1 million women to markets by 2020.

MTN launches Internet Me2U, a P2P data sharing solution in partnership with U2opia Mobile

Kigali – MTN Rwanda, the leading telecommunications provider has launched a first-of-its-kind service in Rwanda with “MTN Internet Me2U”, a peer-to-peer (P2P) data sharing solution in partnership with U2opia Mobile with an aim to raise internet penetration and make internet easily accessible for its subscriber base. MTN Internet Me2U is powered by Fonepass, U2opia mobile’s sponsored data platform, and it allows all prepaid users to share data MBs between friends and family on the network.

MTN Rwanda partners with ENGEN allowing customers pay for fuel via MTN Mobile Money

ENGEN customers can now purchase fuel, lubricants and other goods using MTN Mobile Money. With this launch, MTN Mobile Money customers will be able to make transactions at all 10 ENGEN stations in Kigali, with an expected rollout to up-country stations by early 2017
